In preparation for this whole blog-speriment, I decided to overhaul my OkCupid profile. I struggled with what to write - what words to choose, how to portray myself, how to hit that perfect witty but slightly self-deprecating note... I considered which attributes to include and which to leave out... I asked important questions on my Facebook profile like "Is it better to just be up front about the fact that I will not respond to your message if you cannot correctly use your and you're??? Don't even get me started on to, too, and two!"
So, here is what I've come up with...
I'm a funny, freckled, 28 year old teacher. I am crafty (as in, I like to make things - not crafty like sneaky!) and often disorganized. I love flipflops and pasta salad. I am a vegetarian, but not one of those crazy ones. I've lived in California, Virginia, Florida, and Massachusetts - and I love that Astoria is now my home. I love college football (Go Seminoles!) but that very likely is for the social/beer aspect rather than the sporting aspect. I teach wee kids, and I've been in New York for 4 years now. I went to Florida State (woohoo!) and NYU (eh...) and now I have huge student loans. I love the beer garden in the summer and dive bars in the winter. If there is a puppy around, I'm probably paying more attention to it than I am to you. Sorry, it's the truth.
So that's me in a nutshell - hopefully I'll have some dating adventures to share soon!
