But then. Out of the blue. A date appeared.
I have posted about Andrew before - but in case you're not an obsessive reader, I'll recap. Andrew is a friend of my roommate, I've known him for about two years now. He's quiet, smart, tall, and a little awkward. We went on one "maybe it's a date" earlier this year - but nothing but group get-togethers since that movie. On Thanksgiving, I found myself at a friend's apartment - happily tipsy on a few glasses of sangria, cuddled up on a couch next to Andrew, watching Gremlins (doesn't everyone watch that on Thanksgiving?). I confessed on the way home to my roommate that I wouldn't mind making out with Andrew - but could not imagine a situation in which that might occur.
Well, apparently the middle-school-gossip-circuit started running. Andrew admitted to a friend he had a crush on me, she confirmed with my roommate that the feelings were potentially mutual, she said he had to ask me out and make it clear it was a date, and things were set into motion...
I got a text from Andrew - he had been to a nice vegetarian restaurant he thought I would like, and would I like to go on Friday or Saturday? So we went and had a nice dinner, then had a drink and dessert at a bar nearby. I was worried it would be awkward - in group settings, Andrew can be very quiet, and I was nervous he wouldn't say anything. However, it was really fun - we had a great time and before the date was over, planned to get together again the following weekend.
This past weekend, we went out again - to dinner at his friend's house. I had a nice time with him again - his friends are a little strange, but that's another story... On the subway on the way home from his friend's house, he half-way put his hand on my leg - but other than that, there has been no real physical contact. I'm interested to see where this goes, so stay tuned loyal readers...
